When a Wreath is not a Wreath.....

it's a mobile....

I saw a photo of a wreath made with these paper hearts and have to say I was not impressed but I could see potential.  So I set to work and made 12 hearts (dead simple) and set them out on my desk in the shape of the wreath.

No!!!!!!!!!!!  it quite simply didn't work, too big and not terribly substantial.  So I took 4 hearts away - ah that's better but what do I do with the spare hearts - ping light bulb moment - make a second tier.  But then it's not a wreath - it's a...........

............

............

mobile!!!!!

Well that sounded simple enough but the mechanics of joining the two tiers so that they hung straight was a bit thought provoking.  But after looking at it from all angles I worked it out and worked out how to hang it.  Now how to make it pretty and to get movement in it.  Firstly I printed off 4 of my Tilda stamp images and then I flipped the images and printed 4 to go on the backs.  Coloured and glittered them and fitted them to the centre of the mobile.  It still needed something else so I cut and glittered 8 little butterflies and fixed them to the mobile using thin strips of acetate so that they looked as if they were flying and voila.......one mobile.

New Year - New Beginnings

I think I'll actually get round to entering some challenges this year so the Crafty Ribbons Blog Challenge of 'New Beginnings' sounded like a good place to start.  The metal bar has been sitting in my stash for a while and obviously was meant for this card.  I've made a cross over card of a sort, instead of completely crossing over each other I laced the fronts together and then slipped two tags inside the pocket.  It was a fun card to make.

and I used something new that I received over the holidays - angel glitter.

I also entered in the Krafty Kool Kats challenge at

A Book of Note

I recently made this little Book of Note for a swap challenge - it was so easy to make using my Bind It All that I think I'll make a few more, they are handy to keep by you for little presents.

Just until I get back here..

...I've pre-posted another card.  I think my all time favourite colour combo is black and white with just a tiny splash of red so this card was really fun to make.  It's another one that was totally unplanned and just sort of materialised....

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together...

...well if all has gone to plan then I am back home today.

But don't you love it even more when there is no plan but it still all comes together.

Well that's this card then.  I had been wanting to make a crossover card for a while and finally last week cut the blank.  I really wasn't thinking straight when I just grabbed a random ink pad and inked all the edges - KHAKI, what the heck was I thinking and what was I going to do with that.  Ok quick search for some green paper and punched a bit of lace trim, ehm looking better but now what???  Rummaged through my folder of Tilda images and found 5 safari style images that I had coloured some time ago - perfecto!!!  Some die cut mounts and voila a card.  Hold it - need a bit more, ehm green buttons - yep looking good but..... too tired now will think in the morning.  Why do we get light bulb moments in the middle of the night - yes it needed a couple of sentiment tickets and I had some already coloured and cut just need to find them.  Now the card is finished and for once I am quite happy with it, wonder what you think...

and still busy playing....

... another card that just sort of evolved, it actually started with me fiddling with a piece of black card that I had cut two oblongs from using my cuttlebug and a Spellbinder die.  It suddenly struck me that as they were perfectly aligned (purely by accident) they looked like windows so I added the thin pieces of card to the back to make window panes, it then struck me that it looked like an Oriental Screen so I added a piece of pearlised vellum and then lightly stamped a blossom tree design on the vellum.  I lightly coloured the blossom tree with my Promarkers adding just a hint of colour to give the impression the tree was outside the frame.  The rest of the card just seemed to evolve from there, two very cute eastern Tildas and an oriental greeting.  All it needed to finish it off were some small die cut flowers and leaves and voila another card has occurred.

well I have now tidied up my craft room and put everything safely away for now.  I have preposted a few things to pop up on here over the next few days  but for a little while I am taking a crafting rest.  See you all again very very soon.

A card for a special person

a very special person was going through my card stock recently and came across a card that she loved and asked if I would send it to her for her birthday as she would really like to receive it.  Well you can't do that can you, so I refused stating that I'd already made her birthday card (which I had).  However you also can't ignore such a request so I made another card in the same vein this afternoon which will be sent with her other card.

The front of the card...

opening the first sections of the card reveals tags in the side pocket and a pocket in the centre in which I can pop some pictures of the Queen's head (aka money) which is her preferred birthday present..

and then when you drop the centre flap down the full interior is revealed..

now all I have to hope is she likes it.

Playtime with Tilda

more Tildas...

still need to play with Tilda...

as I am having to make loads of Tilda style cards for future challenges I am setting for the Tilda Trendies I am also mixing in a few extra cards for friends for Christmas.  Here are a few more I have made over the weekend....

ok this one isn't a card, it's a bottle tag..

then I tried a different style of card, lots of measuring and creasing involved but it worked..
and this is it stood up - not such a good photo.. but you get the idea..

It's Tilda Time...

Oh sew easy...

...I loved this digi stamp as soon as I saw it and the cards were 'sew' easy to make with it...

and then I went for the more complicated and played with a Tilda stamp that I am particularly fond of.....

I even 'decorated' the inside..
